Two More In the Door

Over the last week and a bit, the postcards have slowed to a trickle. That’s to be expected as I haven’t been sending out very many in the last month or so. With the busyness of the season, I put Postcrossing on temporary hold. Once the new year arrives, I’ll get back to it.

Two cards did arrive, however, and this morning I’ve had time to scan them. Both cards arrived from Europe. The first to arrive came from the Netherlands. Somehow, without even looking at the back of the card, I knew it was from there; I can’t really explain it but it just looked Dutch somehow. I was right.

The second card came from Linda, who lives near Paris, France. Paris is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. This is such a sweet card. There’s something about the simplicity that I just love… maybe it’s because it shows a love for books and reading, two things I have enjoyed from a very early age.

 

 

Greetings from Russia

This week, two cards arrived; both came from Russia. Without further ado, here we go…

I do love seeing coins, or currency, from other countries.

The second card is a vintage photo of Pushkin’s statue.

I Almost Forgot

I scanned this week’s postcards yesterday and then forgot to post about them.Yesterday was just that kind of day, I suppose. The first card to arrive this week came from Michiko in Japan. Michiko writes that she likes Canadian musicians Glen Gould, Celine Dion, Daniel Powter, Alanis Morisette and Avril Lavigne. Heck, even I, a born and raised Canadian, am not familiar with Daniel Powter.

The second, and final card for this post, came from Ritva in Finland.

If I read her card correctly, Ritva is the little girl in this picture! How sweet is that?

Edited to add: I’ve heard back from Ritva and she is not the little girl in the picture. She was, however, three when this photo was taken and knows this spot well.

 

A Busier Week

This had definitely been a busier Postcrossing week. This time, I have four cards to tell you about. The first card made its way to our house from Germany. Steffan writes that this card is a bit special. It shows a hotel in the former GDR, a hotel that no longer exists.

The second card to arrive came from the Philippines, a country now struggling to get back to its feet after Typhoon Haiyan.

Then came this fun card from David in Great Britain. He writes that he didn’t have any Inge Look cards but hoped this one would suffice. I giggled when I saw it. It does suffice indeed. Anything that makes me giggle is a good thing!

And, finally, this lovely card arrived from Taiwan. Both the card and the stamps are great. It shows some of the traditional clothing from the country of Taiwan. I like anything that shows traditional clothing.

This card arrived in a plastic wrapper with just a corner but out for the stamps. It is pristine! I love the stamps and, being a knitter, I especially love the picture of the man spinning.
